It's hard to explain, but it's just all the bass all the time. Regarding using the subpac to set/mix bass levels, it mostly feels like trying to put pins in silk with a hammer. Trying to tune your bass line and kick (if that's your thing)? Good luck with that too. Which bass frequency is standing out in particular? I would be very impressed if you could discern that by tactility alone, I certainly can't. So here is the thing with the subpac, it vibrates on your back. It has some major coolness and wow factor to it, technologically speaking, and it is very well made, but as a frequency sculpting tool? As a critical listening tool?

I work in a decently treated room on a full range 2.1 system, but I have also worked in far less ideal rooms and would still recommend headphones and decent nearfields over the subpac. I bought it late 2018 and have used it maybe several times. Ideally they are fairly bass heavy and not hard (so i don‘t need an amp for them).I have the Subpac S2, in a box, gathering dust behind me. So basically, what would good neutral headphones be, that I can use for Mixing and Mastering? My price range would be about 500$. Does anyone own them and can tell me they‘re good? I‘ve also found good reviews about the Neumann NDH 20‘s. I will probably find myself turning them up and the highs will then kill my ears. Would it even be necessary if I already have a Focusrite 2i4 audio interface?Īlso I‘ve read that they lack Bass, which is kind of not ideal for Techno Production.

I was thinking about the DT 1990‘s Pro since I love Beyerdynamic (and I believe they have one of the best headphones), but I realized you need a headphone amp to ‚power‘ them - and I really don‘t want to buy that as well. I‘ve used Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (80 Ohm) for a few years now.

Since my room is awful and I don‘t want to spend 1000$ on studio monitors for a bad room I‘ve been mainly producing on headphones. Please use flair if you would like to share your pages.
